Privacy Policy for Sunset Predictor with AR

Sunset Predictor with AR ("the App") is developed by Stephen Sedman. This policy explains what information the App uses and, just as importantly, what it does not collect, store, or share.

Summary

The App does not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data. Everything the App needs to function stays on your device, with two narrow exceptions described below where information is sent to a service in real time to answer a specific request — and is not retained afterward.

Location

The App uses your device's location to calculate sunset times, sun position, and to fetch a weather forecast for predicting sunset quality.

• Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo (a public weather data provider) solely to retrieve a forecast for that location. This exchange happens in real time to answer your request; Open-Meteo is not used to build a profile of you, and the App does not retain a history of your locations beyond what's needed for the App's saved-favorites feature described below.
• If you search for a location by name or address, that search text is sent to Apple's own geocoding service to convert it into coordinates. This is handled entirely by Apple's systems, in the same way Maps or other Apple apps handle address lookups.
• Your last known location may be stored locally on your device so that background sunset-quality checks can run without needing to relaunch the App. This data never leaves your device.

You can disable location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Certain features of the App will not function without it.

Camera

The App's augmented reality (AR) feature uses your device's camera to overlay sun position information on a live camera view. This camera feed is processed entirely on your device in real time. No photos, video, or camera data are captured, stored, or transmitted anywhere.

You can disable camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. The AR feature will not function without it, but the rest of the App will work normally.

Notifications

If you enable sunset alerts, the App uses Apple's local notification system to notify you when a good sunset is predicted. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device. No data is sent to any external notification or push service, and no server is involved.

Saved Locations and Favorites

If you save a favorite location within the App, that information (a name and coordinates) is stored locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to any server and is not accessible to anyone but you.

No Accounts, No Analytics, No Advertising

The App does not require account creation or login. It does not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising software development kits (SDKs). It does not display ads. It does not share information with data brokers or third-party marketing partners.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and the App does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, regardless of age, beyond what is described above.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in the future, an updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
