1.) How did you two meet?
So my Grandma has a lake house in NH about 2 hours away from here, very small lake maybe less than 75 houses. I grew up going there as a kid and would try to be up there every weekend in the summer. Well the summer of 2012, I was up there with my sister heather and as we are enjoying the sun, this very good looking person comes floating down the lake with some beers. Being the outgoing person I am, I dragged my sister out to the lake to “run into” this person.. that person ended up being Zac who was staying at his friends house who also happened to live on the lake. The best part is as we got talking we realized how close we lived to each other back home (about 15 minutes) and the rest is history.
2.) How did he pop the question?
Labor Day 2017. We were heading to his parents for dinner and a fire later in the day but he wanted to go out for lunch in Plymouth because the weather was nice and I thought it was a good idea. As we are heading down to Plymouth I called my parents, and my sisters as I normally do when were driving and asked what they were up to.. normal conversation they told me they had plans or were heading to their in laws for a cookout. Not a shocking statement on labor day. Little did I know my sisters were following us to Plymouth and my parents were heading to Zac’s parents for a surprise get together. Anyway, we had lunch reservations down by the water but zac was dragging his feet and wanting to walk out of the way which I thought was so weird (and annoying) but just figured he wanted to enjoy the water. He said we should go out on the rock jetty but it was slammed so I said no. That is when he stopped, asked me to stand and look at him. At this point I was confused as to why we stopped walking and why I needed to look at him. He then pulled the ring out of his jacket, got down on one knee, said a bunch of sweet things that I think I blacked out on, and asked me to marry him. Someone then walked by and asked if they could take our picture, I said yes but he said “no we have someone already getting them” as he said that I head my sisters scream and come running. It was the sweetest moment and I’m so glad he got my family involved.
3.) What was your favorite moment(s) from the wedding?
My favorite moment number 1 was walking down the aisle to my best friend and the weather holding out for us! And overall was just being on the dance floor all night with all of our family and friends
4.) How long have you been together?
Dating for 6 years before the wedding
5.) How would you describe your overall wedding experience?
Amazing. The fact that the weather changed for Sunday and we got to be outside made our day.
6.) What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
Plan early. Get the big stuff out of the way 6 months prior. That way you can enjoy the time leading up and only worry about invitations and small stuff.
7.) What photography-related advice would you offer to a couple?
Research. Talk to family and friends about who they use. Look at packages. The pictures are how you will remember your day for years to come so you want to spend the money on the right person/team.
8.) Tell me about your dress. Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one?
I LOVED my dress. I found it at New York Lace in Taunton. Which by the way is a hidden gem for anyone down this way. I had an idea of what I wanted but tried on about 30 dresses between 3 stores. NYL was the first and last store I went to. I had one picked out I liked but my grandma was with us that day and asked for me to try on one with the lace up the back (which I said I would never try on) as I came out of the dressing room my mom, grandma, sister and I all had tears in our eyes. I wasn’t 100% convinced until I tried on the one I thought I liked and then realized my grandma had the right choice.
9.) How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?
It was perfect! I knew how fast the day was going to go and I wanted someone who made sure they captured all of the moments which you did perfectly. Some of the ‘caught off guard’ photos are by far my favorites.
10.) Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting or would you have rather done it differently? Tell me why or why not! We didn’t see each other until the first look. I loved seeing him before because it allowed me to get some nerves out but I still cried when I saw him wipe away tears as I walked down the aisle. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
11.) Any tips on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
Just relax. The photographer knows what they are doing and they will get everything you could have ever dreamed of having for wedding photos.
12.) Any tips that you have about preparing your wedding party for the photos? What did you tell them, how did you get them to cooperate, what did you do or what would you have done differently?
I kept my group small, only 4 girls and me. This was perfect. Everyone knew they were there for our wedding and made sure to be on point. I wouldn’t change a thing, they made me relax and have fun.
13.) Any tips on what to bring? Lots of water! Anti-acids for sure! Lavender oils to calm the nerves!
14.) We love to hear about vendors you love. List any vendors here and feel free to share your experience. Be sure to include the name of the vendor, their profession, city/state, site or Facebook page and how your experience was!
Sedman Photography - http://www.sedmanphoto.com - Steve! The best in the business!
Glamour me Bridal & beauty- makeup and hair by solange! She was amazing and so fast. My hair and makeup was perfect!
The man of many hats- DJ – Steve Bishop! He is amazing, best all around!
15.) Did you find a store/site that had everything you were looking for? Use this space to talk about favorite shops. You can include where you got your dress, sites you got your veils/décor/accessories, etc.
I made a bunch of the stuff for our wedding but loved getting ideas from pinterest and etsy. Ikea for lanterns; my veil was my sisters;
16.) What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome?
The weather for sure! They called for a nor’easter and I had to make the decision to be inside or outside at noon.. eek! Weather changed, sun and a rainbow came out. Couldn’t beat it!
17.) What’s one piece of advice you would give to other couples for planning their wedding?
Take a step back and remember what is important. No one cares about flowers, centerpieces, favors etc. Everyone is there for you so make it what you want.
18.) Have you had any prior photo sessions? If so, what type, and where?
Only our engagement photos which you took!
19.) What kind of food was served at your reception? We had 5 passed apps which were lobster rolls, smoked duck quesadillas, scallops and bacon, mac & cheese bites, and bruschetta. For dinner we did clam chowder soup, a salad then the choice of swordfish or traditional turkey dinner which was a hit being only a couple weeks before thanksgiving.
20.) What was the first song you danced to as husband and wife? Father-daughter dance? Mother-son dance?
Our song was you make it easy by Jason aldean.
Father daughter was when you need me by Bruce Springsteen
Mother son was I’ll always love you by Whitney Houston (sung by his sister Andrea)
