1.) How did you two meet?
We met at a New Year’s Eve party of a mutual friend back when I was in high school and Jeff was home from college.
2.) How did he pop the question?
Jeff proposed on top of Cathedral Ledge in New Hampshire, one of our favorite places we visit every year.
3.) What was your favorite moment(s) from the wedding?
My favorite moment was the ceremony at the church. There was so much anticipation in seeing Jeff for the first time and the marriage sacrament meant a lot to us.
4.) How long have you been together?
Jeff and I have been together for over ten and a half years!
5.) How would you describe your overall wedding experience?
Our wedding experience was perfect, and we would not have asked for anything to be different.
6.) What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
Wedding planning became more stressful the closer it got to the wedding date. Take time for yourselves to focus your mind on something other than the wedding. For us, we liked to go for long walks around our neighborhood every day and talk about anything OTHER than the wedding.
7.) What photography-related advice would you offer to a couple?
Do your research. I feel that word of mouth is the best resource when finding a vendor for your wedding, especially for one who will be capturing your entire day in photos.
8.) Tell me about your dress. Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one?
I got my dress at David’s Bridal. I knew it was the one based on the reactions of my mother and sisters when I came out of the dressing room wearing it.
9.) How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day?
Great! I don’t consider myself a photogenic person and it was nice to have someone telling me how to pose, what to do with my hands/elbows/feet/etc.! I felt very comfortable and enjoyed the few pictures you showed me right there on the spot from your camera.
10.) Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting or would you have rather done it differently? Tell me why or why not!
We didn’t see each other before the wedding, and I would not have it any other way. Jeff and I both had so much excitement and anticipation building up to the ceremony. It also helped calm some of my nerves of walking into the crowded church knowing that Jeff was at the other end of the aisle feeling the same way.
11.) Any tips on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
Get sleep the night before and drink lots of water the day of. It’s also nice to have lipstick or lipgloss on hand because you will smile a lot.
12.) Any tips that you have about preparing your wedding party for the photos? What did you tell them, how did you get them to cooperate, what did you do or what would you have done differently?
My wedding party had all been through the photos before and knew what to do!
13.) Any tips on what to bring?
Lipstick for the girls. The morning of my wedding day was rainy and I wished I had purchased umbrellas so that I would be able to get some pictures done outside using them. The rain stopped so I wouldn’t have needed them anyways but I thought they would come out fun had it been raining.
14.) We love to hear about vendors you love. List any vendors here and feel free to share your experience. Be sure to include the name of the vendor, their profession, city/state, site or Facebook page and how your experience was!
Wild Dahlia – florist – Shawna was amazing to work with! I gave her a general idea of the types of flowers I like and the color palette and she made gorgeous bouquets and centerpieces—better than anything I could have come up with!
Special Event Beauty – hair and makeup – Rachel and Maryanne came to where we were getting ready, and did 6 girls’ hair and makeup with plenty of time to spare. They stuck around until the limo took us away in case anyone needed touch ups before we left.
16.) What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome?
I was most anxious about the church and that I would faint walking down the aisle! Fortunately, this did not happen and it ended up being my favorite part of the whole day.
17.) What’s one piece of advice you would give to other couples for planning their wedding?
Plan together, go to the venues together and visit then vendors together. Jeff was very laidback in the whole planning process and went with whatever decisions I had made, and we both wish we spent more time in visiting all the places together.
18.) Have you had any prior photo sessions? If so, what type, and where?
We had an engagement shoot at Governor Ames Estate in Easton.
19.) What kind of food was served at your reception?
Everyone had a plated meal of statler chicken, with the option of vegan or gluten free dishes.
20.) What was the first song you danced to as husband and wife? Father-daughter dance? Mother-son dance?
Our first song: Coming Home, by Leon Bridges
Father-daughter: God Only Knows, by the Beach Boys
Mother-son: 59th Street Bridge Song, by Simon and Garfunkle
